Annual Report 2024

In 2024, the GHSI held 9 Coordination and Laison Committee (CLC) meetings and 4 Global Health Security Action Group (GHSAG) meetings (in-person and virtual) in addition to several issue-specific calls. In September 2024, the CLC and GHSAG met in-person in Berlin, Germany, leveraging an excellent opportunity for face-to-face strategic engagement and decision-making on technical and policy issues of relevance for the GHSI. Key topics discussed throughout the year included: emerging CBRN threats in a changing international security landscape, lessons learned from mass gathering events preparedness, exercising the GHSI Event Management Response Framework (EMRF), sharing of medical countermeasures (MCMs), and information exchange on outbreaks of Mpox, Avian flu (H5N1) and Marburg virus disease (MVD).

Topics for future discussions, in 2025, will build on ones from 2024 such as continued testing and exercising scenarios for the EMRF, further discussion on mass gathering events planning and considerations, strategizing approaches to CBRN and pandemic virus preparedness and response, continued information exchange on ongoing outbreaks and other emerging topics.

The working groups and networks continued their work as the technical backbone of the GHSI and convened in-person and virtually throughout the year. Their ongoing work highlighted the development of technical documents

The GHSI remains committed to maintaining this trusted forum by continuing to foster collaboration and cooperation between member countries, international partners, and the working groups and networks.
